My Savage Soul,
It sings a song you'll never know.
It howls to the moon as its fangs do grow.
It plays along the razor's edge,
twirling lightly between the worlds.
My Savage Soul,
It picks the colors of the fall,
blends me in so I may call,
to brethren with similar tastes.
To join with them and doth create.
|
My Savage Soul,
It holds me here a prisoner,
keeps my eyes back from the light.
It hides me from the sentient sight,
blinding me to my own plight.
My Savage Soul,
Can you hear my misery?
Locked inside this demon's skin,
I quietly invite you in.
You want to know what I do feel?
You want to see my senses reel? Well don't be shy,
watch me here.
As I show you your deepest fear.

It has been a two hundred years since the discovery that man is in fact not alone in the universe. In all reality, man is really not alone on his own planet. The Dias, creatures of the animal world, have come into the sight of a technology-dependent human race, and no one is happy about it.
Until recently, humanity has been at an all time high in the ratings. Countries have formed new alliances, poverty rates are down. Hey, they even found that cure for cancer thing. But what does humanity want with an ancient brother when it is in the peek of its existence? Nothing. Humanity wants nothing to do with these newly discovered, but very old friends. They've even gone to the point of forming a world-wide coalition with the intended purpose of wiping out these so deemed "vermin." But first thing's first, isn't it? If they want to flush out and destroy these powerful old-world creatures of myth and legend, they foremost have to gather them.
I welcome you now to the Cage, a massive dome of reinforced steel filament fibers and electric energy barriers that keeps back the savage wild. Humanity has done well for itself, and it needs not bother with such things as the wild, untamed environment. That's what the Cage is for. All the world's ecosystems, all combined into one place, and all stretching across the continents themselves. Think of it as a border - a border between the civilized world and the savage wild; and nothing gets past this border.
Or at least, that's what the humans want you to think.
There is a small gap, you see. A small weakening in the thousand-volt energy field that stretches from one side of the planet to the other. The only question is, have the entrapped Dias found it yet? Are they lurking, out in the human world?
Would we even know it if they were?

The Coalition was formed two hundred years ago, when the threat of wild animals known as the Dias came to the attention of the human race. In order to protect themselves from these beasts that quietly lived in the human world one minute, then savagely attacked humans the next, the great leaders of the world came together and gave full authority to The Coalition to be the protection of all nations from this new, dangerous threat. The Coalition's first act n power was to erect the Cage, and force all Dias into it, sealing it up behind them. Their job well done, the Coalition was all but disbanded in the two hundred years that would follow this great success. But the people of The Coalition knew more than they were telling their world leaders. They knew the capabilities of the Dias, and they knew that one day not even the Cage would hold them back. For the betterment of humanity, The Coalition sunk into obscurity, silently waiting for the time when their knowledge would again be necessary. But rumors have spread. Some say The Coalition has been secretly taking Dias from the Cage to run tests on them. If this is true, not only are they violating the basic ethical rights of all creatures, but they have also two hundred years' worth of testing to discover ways to protect against the Dias.

The Thyme Keepers are the government body in earth's most powerful city. They rule Thyme City with an iron fist, keeping crime down and prosperity up. But being a Keeper isn't all fun and games. Competition is brutal - murderous even. It isn't uncommon to hear reports of Mecca Massacres on the news, and even less uncommon to see the lives of good men smeared by power hungry politicians trying to rise to the top if the food chain. Keeping does have its benefits though. Politicians that do well for themselves live in complete splendor, showering themselves with wealth and power. That power is a delicate thing though, and wealth can only be held on to as long as you have the power to keep it. One thing's for sure - this is a dog eat dog game, and some dogs are looking pretty fat right now, if you know what I mean...

Out of the Cage, a new Tribe has formed. The legendary Kenari Tribe is a collection of Dias that has found the gap in their prison, and escaped into the freakishly changed human world. But things are not what they should be. Unhindered by the wilderness and all that hippie conservation rubbish, the humans have created for themselves a technological utopia. To the Kenari's dismay, parks are the only wilderness they'll ever be seeing outside the Cage, and suddenly, the Cage doesn't seem like such a bad place. There is land untainted by the humans there, where outside there is only a world that the Dias cannot relate to. So what will they do? Will they keep their animal natures hidden inside themselves and adapt to the new human utopia, or will they crawl back defeated into the Cage and hide themselves from a world that is no longer for them? The decision, as you can see, is a difficult one to make.
